How to target visitors by Cart Items (Shopify)

You can choose to show specific widgets to your clients based on their purchases. Read below how to customize your target audience, based on the specific items they already purchased on your website.


From your dashboard, get to the Widgets tab and choose the one you would like to edit. Hit the “Edit” button, situated on the right side of the screen, right across the widget name:

Choose the “Display options” tab:

In the “Rules” category, click the “Add a Rule” button and choose the “Target” Option from the drop-down menu:

Here you can choose whether you would like to include, or exclude a certain target group from seeing your widget:


Show/Don’t Show


Click on “Create Target”. Write the target name and click the “Create” button:

Press “Add a filter” button, and from the dropdown menu choose the “Cart Items” option:

Introduce the details of the target group. Here you have several options to regulate it by the cart items. You can include or exclude from the target those who have certain items in their cart. You can also add several groups and use the "and/or" button to use all, or one of them. (It is also possible to add several filters to the same target category or delete any of them by pressing the bin button on the right side of the Filter):

Hit the “Save” button on the top right corner, and then “Close”:


Don’t forget to Save!


You can change the target by adding or deleting the groups underneath the drop-down menu, and when you are ready, hit the “Save” button at the top right side of the page:
