How to create a Theme experiment

Follow the steps below to set up a Theme Test and experiment with different Shopify themes on your store.


  1. From your Personizely Dashboard, navigate to the Campaigns tab and click the Create Campaign button at the top right:

  1. In the “Create new campaign” window, select Theme Test, name your campaign, and define a hypothesis to clarify what you’re testing.
    Then select the theme you want to use as a variation. The currently published theme will be used as the control by default.
    Click Create to continue.

  1. You will be redirected to the campaign settings page. Under Variations, you’ll see the Original theme and the Variation 1 with the preview link to the selected theme.
    You can add more variations by clicking Create variation and selecting other available themes from your Shopify store.
    You can also change the variation theme, by clicking "Change theme" on the right side and selecting a different theme


Note: The variation themes must exist in your Shopify account.

  1. Adjust Traffic allocation by setting what percentage of visitors will be exposed to this campaign

  1. In the Goals section, select the action(s) you want to track, like Purchase or Add to cart.
    You can assign multiple goals and mark one as the primary goal for reporting.

Additional notes:

  • The Personizely script must be installed synchronously for the redirect to occur instantly.
  • This campaign type is only available for Shopify users now.
