How to create a Personalization campaign
Follow the steps below to set up a Personalization campaign and show tailored content to different visitor segments.
- From your Personizely Dashboard, navigate to the Campaigns tab and click the Create Campaign button at the top right:
- In the “Create new campaign” window, select Personalization, name your campaign, and define a hypothesis to clarify what you’re aiming to achieve.
Select whether to use existing pages or create a new page, then choose the page(s) where the campaign should run.
Click Create to continue.
- You will be redirected to the campaign settings page. Under Pages, you can update the page you selected or add more if needed.
- Under Variations, you can create as many personalized versions as needed. Click Create variation to add a new one.
Each variation can be targeted to a specific segment using filters and can be edited individually in the builder.
- Use the Control group slider to specify how many of the targeted visitors should not see any variation but still be measured as part of the campaign baseline.
- Adjust Traffic allocation by setting what percentage of visitors will be exposed to this campaign
- In the Goals section, select the action(s) you want to track, like Purchase or Add to cart.
You can assign multiple custom goals and mark one as the primary goal for reporting.
- Choose the Trigger for the campaign:
Immediate: The campaign runs as soon as the page loads.
Manual: The campaign is triggered via API or widget automation.
- To edit a variation, click Edit in builder on the right side of that variation.
You can change text, images, buttons, styles, links, or even inject custom CSS and JS.
- Click on the element you want to edit. A small taskbar will appear above it, and the editing panel will slide in on the side.
The top taskbar lets you:
- Select the element’s parent
- Select a child element
- Add an element after the selected one
- Track clicks on the element
Use the editor panel on the right to customize the selected element. The following sections are available:
- General – Restrict visibility or edit inner HTML
- Typography – Change font size, color, height, and spacing
- Background – Set background color or image
- Border – Customize borders and corner radius
- Spacing – Adjust padding and margins
- Classes – Add or remove custom class names
- In the top-right corner of the builder, you’ll find advanced controls:
- Find element – Search by class, ID, or section name if an element is hard to click manually
- Refresh – Reload the page inside the editor
- Edit code – Add custom CSS or JavaScript for this variation
Note: For the best no-flicker experience, make sure the Personizely script is loaded synchronously on your site.
Congratulations, your Personalization campaign is now ready to go live!
